Unfortunately my 'distal quadriceps tendons' are torn from left leg. Therefore I'm off the truck for unknown # of months. I can get in and out of vehicles on my own but door must be wide-open and takes a few. Dr say no driving for now.
Handicap hanger might be useful in a crowded parking lot w my car during recovery. I'd be stuck if a car parked too close.
However, my N.C. CDL will have this flag and could impact my reinstatement to CMV Driving. So think I'll skip the Handicap hanger and park only if an end spot is available.

HAZMAT and ELDT (Entry Level Driver Training)
Fwiw, this was a 3 day process to get the Hazmat added to my license. Already had a TWIC. About $50 net. Re-cooped that investment with the 1st HM load.

Ran across this old post.
Thinking, 4 years now, since I came to TT, wondering if trucking would be in my future.
Now I've been training new, and I mean very new, drivers how to safely drive a truck otr and pass their CDL tests. Over a year now! None have had previous experience, couple I'm surprised they survived driving a car. Half are flat broke and I've cooked meals to help with end of money blues. I get them for 5000 -12000 miles, then they do 30-50k on a team truck.

I looked up ELDT.com
They are on the TPR provider site. Several pages in.

I'd like to remove the auto restriction.
Is it a simple drive around town test, or also needs the new CDL pad maneuvers?
I can find a manual tractor, but harder to find trailer for a test.

My current company, Barr-Nunn has a terminal in Charlotte.
Barr-Nunn, thx, Expect almost half of daily shifts to begin 2100. Nights ok, but on occasion, flipping day to night shifts every other day is too much.

Did move into training a while ago. Rewarding in many ways. I get new drivers for 3 weeks, until they get their CDL.
Certainly not relaxing, some are just bad drivers. Legs often a little sore at end of shift from my imaginary braking in passenger seat. One guy, I actually bruised bottom of my foot.
I took over for a drowsy trainee and then crashed. Had to tell student 4 times to call 911 "I heard you, but what number?" No joke. I got a loaner truck next day, next day moved into a new, to me, truck. The driver of pickup lost control on onramp, took out tandems of tanker in front of me in lane 1, then spun to get TBoned by my truck in lane 2. He walked away with a bloody lip, but was surely sore the next day. He's very lucky, I feared the worse.

Swift screwed my DAC since I deadheaded back to terminal 220 miles without permission.
BTDT A/C quit in Florida. 1st shop couldn't fix. FLiner shop then took 5 days. Stopped an hour after next pickup. Company directed me to return to FLiner. But took very little effort to get routed by the terminal 650 miles away. Told them would rather sweat out the trip than return to the incompetent shop.
