An old man on his third career. Spent a couple decades in law enforcement and working as a military contractor. After that worked in the addiction and mental health field for a bit up in New York. Always enjoyed hitting the road, whether for a car trip or taking the motorcycle out for a 1600 mile trip. I am looking forward to this next adventure life has thrown at me. I have two wonderful adult children, two awesome grand son's and an absolutely awesome wife. "Life is good"

Roehl GYCDL Journey begins 1/25/2021
Thank you Anne!
PJ, thank you for your service as well. I have to say, today was only day one, however it was enough for me to know I made the right decision choosing Roehl. All of the instructors I encountered today were genuine in their desire for us all to be successful. Just a great group of instructors. Be careful in the white stuff and travel safe!

Roehl GYCDL Journey begins 1/25/2021
Made it to GA. Hotel appears clean. Courteous front desk staff and It has a bed. I checked my email and it appears there are already courses for me to sign up and start from Roehl. Roommate hasn't made it in yet. Going to give it a few then head out to grab a few things from wally world (Walmart). Looking forward to the official start of training tomorrow. As for the rest of the evening, I am going to gram some dinner and take a peak at some of the courses Roehl sent to my email.

Hey Dave! Just want to say thank you for all the good information you gave provided in your posts regarding the training program and Roehl in general. It is because of posts like these I decided to go with Roehl as well. I start tomorrow down in GA. Also thank you for your service. I am also previous Leo. We got out at a good time! Or should I say we were fortunate enough to have gotten in when we did.

Roehl GYCDL Journey begins 1/25/2021
I absolutely love this forum. TruckingTruth has helped me every step of the way up till this point, from choosing a company to preparing for my CDL-P.
A little about me and why I chose Roehl. This will be my third career. I spent a couple decades working in law enforcement and as a military contractor. I absolutely loved it, however it has changed dramatically and I am really excited I did my time when I did. Then I got into the addiction field. I moved to NY and ran a couple of addiction and MH clinics. It was a wonderful experience, however I am at a point in my life where it is time for me to do something for me. I have always been lured to the trucking industry and have had much respect for the industry.
After spending quite a bit of time researching different companies I settled on Roehl and Maverick transport. I live in a low priority area for Maverick so after waiting a couple of months for a start date I went with Roehl and start on Monday 1/25/2021 at their GA facility. I chose Roehl over Prime and many others due to company philosophy, safety orientation, and their training. So far I am loving what I am reading from those that have shared their experiences and look forward to sharing mine as well.

Roehl GYCDL Journey begins 1/25/2021
Week 1 Day 1
Shuttle arrived at 6:30 to pick up "us" new hires from the hotel. Small group, six of us. Mostly administrative day today, except for physical limitations testing. Initial impressions; Roehl is the real deal. I choose Roehl based on their commitment to safety and also for their training. Roehl is recognized for both of these. Every instructor appeared genuine in their desire to teach/train each of us to be successful drivers. All instructors were approachable and personable. We wrapped up the first day at around 4 pm and headed back to the hotel. Day 1 online module trainings took about 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete (completed at the hotel).
Although it was the first day, I can say with certainty Roehl transport was the right decision for me. I am looking forward to continuing my training with Roehl and already see a great future with the company. Off to bed, tomorrow starts at 6:30.
