You'll get used to the list of numbers to fuel lol. You use them again when you go inside for a scale ticket too. I think it's good that your trainer is teaching you how to navigate, so many don't and it's a skill you really need to have. Running for 3-4 hours before getting out to stretch your legs is fine, you're still putting in work and getting miles. Don't think you have to drive your full 11 the moment you release the brakes first thing in the morning, not to mention that every day is different. Keep up the good work JJ !!
Haha i'm used to the punching in 50 diff numbers thing. The vans we used in AmeriCorps were government issued and as such fuel was paid for by GSA, so we had to enter mileage and license plate number every time we got fuel or had to buy things for the van like wiper fluid.
I also volunteer with the red cross as an ERV driver (the big ambulance things they have) and some other things and whenever we drive a red cross vehicle red cross pays for gas with a company card, same thing have to enter mileage and a PHH number, for all vehicle except erv we have our own assigned to us, but ERV have one assigned to the card that goes with that ERV.
so yeah done it enough times it doesn't bother me. only when the machine asks for something and you don't know what it's asking for. first time i drove a red cross vehicle (a passenger van) i had to get gas and our logistics guy told me to enter PHH number when the pump asks for it... well it never asked for phh number. it asked for mileage then driver id, I tried everything possible, all the numbers on the card, license plate and did it all like 6 times then said what the heck lets try my phh number... bam it worked -.- thanks logistics guy... should have said when it asked for driver id enter phh number. so yeah it doesn't bother me except when that situation happens. oh and when i fueled up an erv for the first time i didn't know the card had it's own driver id and so i kept trying my phh number and it would not work, then while reading some paperwork in the metal tin that has the card and insurance, etc i saw something that said ervs have their own and it said what it was... things they don't teach you in training......

Hello all , just wanted to throw this out there .... I'm on my first reset starting last night and im ready for it..haha I felt like we were running pretty good last week but my trainer said we were taking it easy.. I guess i will build up tolerance for driving longer hours without breaks but right now im feeling good about 3 to 4 hours at a times.. I've learned alot so far and have alot to go but so far driving has been close to my expectations.. one thing thats irritating...MAN !! can i just pump some fuel in the tank without punching in 50 different numbers in the thing...lol.. but not paying for it is nice...showers so far have been cleaner then i thought they would be. my trainer is kinda old school he doesnt use a GPS ..company directions and an atlas . so i figure its a good thing to know the atlas and how to use it....i do plan on breaking my gps out maybe week 3 though to get use to using it...well im trying to keep it short so i will end it here....Peace JJ
