Yeah, Ryan. It's new from FMCSA this July. Take your permit tests in Illinois, get your permit. Go to school in Wisconsin, they will give you the skills/driving test there. Then WI will pass to details (that you passed, right?) to IL.
You are planning to get your CDL permit ASAP, right? Have you been studying the High Road Training Program here?
Do feel free to ask any questions here. Somebody will have the answer.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle
The FMCSA was established within the Department of Transportation on January 1, 2000. Their primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities and injuries.
What Does The FMCSA Do?
The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.
I took my cdl permit test yesterday and passed. Thank god it only took once lol. I talked to the dmv and they have never heard of training in wisconsin passing the test there and getting your lincese here. A little nervous about the whole thing. One guy have said that he trained in marshfield for three weeks, then went to Gary, in for a week to take his test in Illinois.

@Ryan B - I too had this same question, as I plan on starting with Roadmaster's Truck Driving School - Salt Lake City location, but I live in CA. I found an earlier post from Errol that basically states what he is saying above. I did email the admissions rep, who told me that I needed to have my DOT physical and CDL permit from CA, and then the school in SLC would be able to test me out then submit those test scores to the CA DMV , who then would issue me my CA CDL license. If you find out any other info, please post. I'm Scheduled to start school on Sept 21st.

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

The way I understand it is that us Illinois folks get our commercial permit here in Illinois, then attend Roehls training. After that, you come back to Illinois to take the road test and get your actual CDL. Illinois is a weird state like that.

The "remote control" method just started in July, so I bet any changes may not have filtered down to many people who should know.
I suggest making a phone call to your state DMV and specifically ask them.
@Charles, go back to my post & see if the new rule is effective on July 1 or something.

I too am an Illinois resident that is going to Roehl too. I asked Stephanie from Roehl the same thing. She has told me they have everything ironed out and if I was to have problems at local DMV to give her a call, they have a contact within Jesse Whites office.
