So.. as some of you know I have been driving local. Its been whatever.. its a job. grateful for the opportunity. However this same company also does regional runs. So.. starting this Sunday they are flying me out to LA to pick up my new truck to start a regional route. It will cover Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and sometimes Wyoming.

It will be kind of different then most Regional/OTR Runs though. Its paid by the hour not the mile. Time and a half after 40 which is always sweet. I also get 25 bucks a night for detention pay and get paid for every stop I make. I have to unload the trailer myself which is cool.. Exercise is always a good thing. I also get paid for my 34 hour reset. It will be about 8-10 days out then 4 or 5 days home depending. During my hometime I can run local if I want/need more hours.

So its a good opportunity. I'm excited for this new chapter in my life!

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Sounds great Max ( well except the unload part, lol)! Having the option to run local for extra cash is a huge bonus in my mind. I am on a local account (more like linehaul really) and have the option to work weekends if I want. Some I do and some I don't but it is nice to have the option! Congrats!!!

Linehaul:

Linehaul drivers will normally run loads from terminal to terminal for LTL (Less than Truckload) companies.

LTL (Less Than Truckload) carriers will have Linehaul drivers and P&D drivers. The P&D drivers will deliver loads locally from the terminal and pick up loads returning them to the terminal. Linehaul drivers will then run truckloads from terminal to terminal.

See, you hang in there and kick enough doors and good things happen. I mean knock on enough doors... LOL

Congrats Max, you have the kind of attitude that will take you far in this industry.
