I did it because I did NOT want another "government job" after the Army. I was thinking about the State Department, but then said, "Hey, why NOT see the country."
I basically didn't have anything better to do. I am thinking about joining a Christian militia, in Iraq.

I'm becoming a driver because I love being out on a truck, have always loved driving and adventure. I get bored easily so I need variety. My background is in healthcare (RRT) and after 20 years of that, I'd rather flip burgers than work in a hospital.
My dad drove for 44 years, my ex and his brother had several trucks and I learned how to drive about 17? Years ago lol. Actually had my permit at one time and went OTR with my ex when I could escape from the hospital and after my son was born I stayed home for a few years and went on the truck often. My son absolutely loved being on the truck too and made his first trip to Cleveland market at 3 weeks old, because the folks up there wanted to meet him after he was born (I drove when pregnant). We ran reefers hauling produce from the Monterey area up to Cleveland and Toronto markets and then hauled welding equipment back to California.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
A refrigerated trailer.
For my mother. You don't need a degree, and the harder you work, the more you get in return. I needed something that would allow me to save up for schooling, a 401K, her retirement, etc.

What about Convoy? I LOVED that movie as a kid. So much so that I bought a kids book that had all the CB lingo in it and what each word meant. I ended up walking around the house "talking like a trucker". My sister hated me.
Haven't seen it in a REALLY long time, though...might not be "watchable" as an adult...
