Oh boy its been a day so far. GPS couldn't find adress, directions were wrong phone number wasn't listed. That's a great start lol suprisingly enough everything is going smooth so far, but I've realized that as many variables as there are in this business, a day where everything goes according to plan is rare. I did learn that the lightweight truck seems easier to back then the full size I think it's the shorter nose, less ferring, but I'm not sure.

But I did manage to deliver my first load by myself without hitting anything, which is my main go right now lol. So what are some of your stories? I thought it might be fun to share them

My first load 44,000lbs of beer kegs from Anheuser-Busch. Baldwinsville NY to Jacksonville FL. Gross weight was 79,580 with half a tank of fuel and have a talk of DEF.

It was very scary.

The first first solo load I had was two skidded coils weighing about 46000 that had to be tarped and of course it also had to be raining and they made you pull outside to tarp.So I got tarped and down the road when I hit rush hour traffic on i94 in Chicago that was a nightmare then once I got near the destination following my phone gas my truck gps and the directions I sent in a macro for I got there and turns out it was an empty field so after calling dispatch who had no advice to offer because according to the gps on the truck I was at the customer and 45 mind of being on hold with the customer we finally figured that I had went 2 miles in the opposite direction of where I needed to be. So after getting there and unloaded I had 45 mind left on my 14 hour clock and had to make it to roehls terminal in Marshfield because the truck I was driving had been sold and that was about a 35 minute drive from the customer I was at with stop lights and light traffic I pulled into the terminal with 1 minute left on my clock.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

May 1, 2015, I took a preloaded trailer of lumber from Missoula to Oklahoma City. My first night on the road I slept in a roadside turnout in the middle of nowhere northern Wyoming. Gorgeous sunrise views. The next day I drove into Denver at rush hour and was a nervous wreck through most of it. Then got to Oklahoma City day after that day with plenty of time to spare, stayed in a truck stop and delivered the next morning.

It was quite a rush finally being out there and actually doing it.

I have two firsts... Lol My first solo trip was from salt lake city to el paso tx... My first weigh station as a solo driver was fun the sun hit the light so I couldn't see if I got the green or red so I just sat there till someone yelled at me lol.... El paso was fun especially the construction around the loop where I needed to deliver but all in all not a bad run...

My first team trip was a Amazon run from Hazelton pa to Phoenix Az... Let's just say brain fart cuz I couldn't remember how to hook up the air lines the right way... Thank god the yard jockey said color coated for idiots... Where was he at two trailers ago when I couldn't figure out what was wrong lol... Like I said brain fart.... That's pretty much it.... Good times is all I can say...

When I was in training the first time years ago with my trainer we were on a dedicated run from New Ulm MN To Kansas City mo to some caves I never had to pull in or should I say back into the caves at kraft in kC until my first solo load lest just say it took me almost 3 hours to get backed into that cave

One of my first solo trips I picked up at business complex in KC called subtropolis (may or may not be the same place). I was thinking it was a produce place* subtropical fruit? When I pulled up to it and saw the tunnels going into the side of a hill I almost turned around. I didn't know I had a phobia of being underground until that day. Lucky for me the guard told me how to approach the place so I wouldn't have to blind side it and a dock worker spotted me while I was backing but it still took everything in me to keep from freaking out long enough to put it in the dock.
