Is the pretrip basically the same anywere in the USA? I learned mine In Indiana now I am back in Kentucky. I decided to do my 4 point airbrake check the way I learned it in indiana. So I can see if I remembered it, and maybe it will help someone out, but I think I will make a seperate thread for it. I really would love to do a pretrip, but thats almost impossable right now. I use pics and my home made flash cards. The pics I took before I left.
Good place to start. I did my pre trip on my personal vehicle.. It wasn't the same, but it helped remember..
Also you tube has some videos on pre-trips.
Thanks! How long have you been at swift? I am thinking about trying them.

Thats good!! How long is their contracts usually run?
Pebbles, the Pretrip is a MANDATORY PASS...you have to get it right. so work on that ALOT..

We have a ton of information on all of the Company-Sponsored Training Programs, including Swift. Here's a link to their information specifically:
Swift Company-sponsored training
Also, in our Pre-Trip Study Guide we have a really good set of flash cards with the option of showing the labels for each part or hiding them to help you learn the names of the parts and what to check for. Here's the link:
Pre-trip inspection flash cards
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.
The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.
If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.
Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.

Okay thanks! I went through the flash cards. So yea its basically the same. Only saw like 2 things that isnt on my pretrip. I wonder if i will be allowed to group some of them like before? Like brakes, or suspension. Like we use to say "there is my brake chamber, slack adjuster, drum, and linings are not cracked bent or broken. No leaking in my chamber. No more than 1ln free play in my slack adjuster, no missing pins, linings at least 1/4" thickness at its thinnest point, and is free of grease oil and debris. I know 70 parts, there conditions, and placement. Just wonder about the little things. Indiana was very particular about how they want everything worded. They let us say at the beginning "everything from the front of this truck to the back of the trailer is properly mounted and secure". And we could group those things that are not cracked bent or broken. To save on time.. lights were "Got your clearance, right and left blinkers, 4 way flashers, fog lights and high beams and low beams. All not cracked or broken, proper color and working, and there are leaks." I guess I will find this out at the next school and state.

Yap indeed. Every state does it their own way so the schools in that state will teach it the way it needs to be done. Because of the knowledge and training you've had alreay this stuff will be a breeze for ya. You'll probably spend most of your time teaching things to the other students in your class.
People act like I am crazy, but I got all this stuff going on in my head 24/7 its driving me nuts not to be able to use it. I am on brain overload. I wish I had access to a truck. It kind of feels like a tea pot building up pressure I need a release. Does that make sense? I am not trying to show off what I know. Its just helps to say it sometimes. Like I did with the 4 point and earlier with pretrip.
