Start Training With Roehl Flatbed Division On Mon 9/14

So you are training here in phx? Question: did mvd make you show your social security card to get your cdl permit? I can find the thing but I can find my original birth certificate. I can get a new ssn card, and I plan to first thing tomorrow morning, but it takes like 10 days to receive it. I'm supposed to start training at the roehl phx terminal on the 21st. Hope this does not delay me.

CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
Terminal:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Yes I will be training in Phx, as far as the MVD question, yes I did have to provide both SS card and original birth certificate as well as my DOT medical card. If you just requested the birth certificate and it's gonna take 10 days you probably will not make it to start on 9/21. They will just have you start the next available class (probably 9/28) I got my CDL permit on 9/3 but was not able to start till 9/14 due to the 9/7 class was full so if that happens it may be delayed an additional week.
I will try to keep this post updated on my progress through the training and once on the road when I can. If things go smooth with you getting into training in the next couple of weeks, I hope I see you there!

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

So I'm after getting my CDL permit and DOT medical card, I am finally starting my training on Monday 9/14! I will begin training with Roehl in their flatbed division. I am very excited to get started on this new career! I want to thank everyone on this website for all the help and insight I received from all your experiences.
