I was thinking the same thing. May pay for it myself and then look locally for driving job.

I start my company paid training on monday and I'm 52. I use to drive a 24' straight truck up in the Rocky Mtns years ago before I started a career in the IT industry. I always missed driving so going into Trucking seemed like the right choice for me as a second career. Its good to all the "seasoned" people getting into this industry.

I will be 65 in October. I have been semi retired now for about 2 years. I was owner operator of an automotive repair shop for 20 years. Sold it in 2012. Before that I was a manufacturing engineer and machinist for over 20 years. My hobbies have always been cars and trucks. Now retirement is getting boring. Am I to old to start trucking now? I am in excellent health.

NO, as long as you are healthy, definitely not. I received my Class A when I was 54. I was not the oldest person while attending school and again during orientation. If you love trucks, love to drive, and willing to learn, probably worth a try.

Owner Operator:

An owner-operator is a driver who either owns or leases the truck they are driving. A self-employed driver.
