Good try on the patriot supply but when i read "non-gmo" and "corn syrup" in the same ingredient label i know that food is poison. For me anyway. In the short run, my husband could probably use it stuck in a snow storm.
Is there a crock pot wher the lid snaps on. So it doesnt rattle or splash.
There are, Target: Locking lid crockpot looks like you're supposed to be able to carry it by the handle as well. Design wise that would work for what i think you want, what kind of quality we are talking about as far as how well it cooks and durability i have no idea :( I'd still be careful with it since the lock tabs are plastic and not carry it like that if it's full but this could be pretty handy. When scoping out a product I try to see what reviews are from multiple outlets and ofc what the return policy is if I decide to buy it and from where. I like finding somewhere local to buy from too instead of online if I possible. Good luck!
I've always been curious about cooking with a crock pot. I just never tried or owned one /gasp!
Nice, i searched it and it's nice. Also found crock pot liners, great idea. Although they are plastic and i dont want to cook in plastic, wouldn't tin foil work? If it was large enough to not let drippings underneath it. My husband's always saying no dont want to be scrubbing pots and pans. Never thought of the handy dandy tin foil. Wonder what would happen if you wrapped a hamburger and fryed it in an electric frying pan. As you can see i have no idea what im talking about. And my sister was a chef.
I meant the lid locking bits are plastic. It says it's Material: Ceramic, Glass, Stainless Steel. I would think this means the pot part is ceramic which would be good. It's too bad it doesn't explain what parts are what but this would be my guess. I would go physically check it out since the pictures don't show you much other than what it looks like :D
The reviews were great. Some voiced the the handle was plastic but the design was excellent. I was talking about a liner inside the ceramic pot so there wouldn't be any scrubbing out on the road. Bad enough we have to wash the dog.
Ohhh he he. reynolds sells crock pot liners made for putting in b4 u start cooking. it's polyethylene (plastic) melting point is 239–275 °F. Don't know what temp crock pots cook at O.o. Only other thing I can think of is to manually line it with some heavy duty aluminum foil before hand, it wont keep it totally clean when you go to take it out but it would help make the clean up easier than nothing, would have to be super careful if you went to stir or scoop some out you wouldn't want to break the foil and get foil bits in your food.
Hey! My fave thing to do on down time I cook up steak for phillies. Let it cool put it on good bread wrap it in foil and put it in the lunch box about 30 mins before it's time to eat. You can get disposable bread pans and heat soup or chili up in them . I get the mini tins and do meatloafs and veggies it will fit 3 in a row in the lunch box. All the prepped food can go.in the plug in cooler.

Have any of you ladies tried those new prepackaged meals advertised for long-term storage / survival ?
I just ordered some from My Patriot Supply to try out. Looks like about $7 per day to eat this way.
Might be another option anyhow.
