How long is CDL learner's permit valid once you get it and the endorsements?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I think it varies state by state? Indiana is good for 90 days I think our is it 180? Either way, if you have yours if should say the expiration date. Or, if you're in the process of getting it, call your DMV and they can tell you the specifics.

Shaun, that varies from state to state. A simple phone call to the DMV (of course there usually is no such thing as a simple call to those folks), or a search on your states DMV web site should be able to provide you with that answer.

Yeah i tried calling them yesterday was on hold for an hr and hung up I will try again today after work.
