Hello im wondering how that works. Im currently about to get my license (cdl) in Missouri and will hopefully start working for Schneider within the next month now as soon as my husband gets out of he Army we would like to move back to IL to be closer to family but we will be team driving is It possible to have our cdls in Missouri but live in IL or would we have to transfer everything back to IL. whats also really confusing is that as soon as we start team driving we will be based out of Indiana because that's Schneider's head quarters for team drivers "so we have been told" so do we have to move to Indiana? I hope that all made sense. the recruiter we are talking to hasn't really made it clear to us what are options are.
I've been told IL does not allow CDL license transfers. You would have to either get your cdl in IL or get it elsewhere but retest. I just moved to IL and so these are the things I'm hearing. Illinois has stricter rules for getting your cdl due to a scandal wit a politician a little while back.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Oh Illinois takes transfers lol, but you will have to take your general knowledge, combination, airbrake, and general operators (class D) written tests, including all cdl endorsements, and take your pretrip, basic controls, and road tests in Illinois.
But you've already passed somewhere else. . Should be no big deal to retest.

Sue, I've heard that too. I've heard many different things. I've just decided to find a company sponsored training school in Illinois and do everything through one company and Illinois. It's kind of confusing.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.
The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.
If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.
Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.
