Not sure why mine and Errol's responses are on this thread twice???

Anyway, I was reading a thread by David H that is results of a survey he created; One question is, "What do you like most about driving an OTR truck?" In the Other category, an answer was, "lot lizards". Seriously? This makes me sick.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Brett hasn't said anything yet, but I think it has to do with the "Best Answer" and "Great Answer" badges - the awarded answers are copied to the top, and the original is left in place.
So, Errolvfistbump.gifCindy K.

As far as "L.L." answer, yes, we have a few members who really haven't grown up yet.

So, Errolvfistbump.gifCindy K.

Exactly. We're trying to help people find the quality information they're looking for as quickly as possible. So we're voting on "Best Answers" and "Great Answers" behind the scenes and copying them to the front of the conversation. Then the original conversation follows.

No, not seriously. That was said in order to make people sick. There are plenty of people out there who love to talk but have nothing worthwhile to contribute so they say the most outrageous thing they can think of hoping to get a rise out of someone and thus entertain themselves.

Seven year old thread, but very much relevant today.

My class, last week, had a presentation on Truckers Against Trafficking. I'd seen the info before a few years ago, but it was before I really thought I'd ever be driving a big rig. Still the info is applicable whether a truck driver or just regular car/truck driver.

I don't think of myself as too emotional over stuff, but by the end of the video, I was getting a little wet in the eyes. Right after that video we had a test for what we covered during the week. As soon as I finished the test, I looked up the TAT website to see if I could do more. They do offer you a certificate for completing a quiz. It's not much, buts it's something. There are ways to help even more by volunteering. I hadn't looked into that yet.

That presentation was on a Friday and after class was over, I went home for the weekend. Next morning I'm talking to my wife about TAT and I'm all choked up, teary eyed, and really emotional about the subject. Later that morning, I cue up the video and ask my 15 yr. old daughter to watch it. Again, all choked up and teary eyed. What if my daughter or son was kidnapped and put into this situation? How bad is that to even think about!? Then to think of these kids who were abducted, what they and their parents are going through!

In that video I was surprised by how many people were helped by just one phone call. And how many got arrested, as well.

I like the fact that their phone number is really easy to remember; 888-3737-888. Call 911 to make an initial report and tell them you suspect human trafficking and provide as much info as you can. Afterwards, call the TAT number to give them a report as well. (They are available 24/7 and can also provide you with info, help, instruction, etc...)

It's amazing what one phone call can accomplish.

And it’s amazing what your reminder might accomplish. Thanks for posting your message.
