I dont want to seem ungrateful. I appreciate getting a new truck considering im still a rookie but I want my old truck. They only sold her cause she had a Mercedes engine. But I liked my truck! Im trying to give it time to get used to the mirror issues but almost fell out of my truck parking today! I just cant seem to park at a truck stop anymoreembarrassed.gif Im hoping I can get the hang of it cause it took me 7 hrs to moveshocked.png Im gonna givw it 2 weeks and if I have an issue adjusting I will have to switch. I dont want the old truck because of cigarette smoke, pets and mold issues! I live in this truck 4 to 6 weeks and go home 2 says. Its my home and I need to feel comfortable! @Mark my company has old trucks. First one broke 2 much and smelled of old sweaty man and doggy:( and my 2nd truck was sold. Most folks get a truck and stay in it. I have no such luck

I drive the T660 also. It takes some getting used to for sure. I like mine now. The cab is small yes, but there's so much room in the sleeper area compared to other trucks I've been in. At first I wanted something different too. Give her a month or two and you'll want to keep her. ; )

Im 5'1 so driving this truck is proving itself to be a challenge but like with all else I conquer head on;)

Redgator say it ain't so...I drool over those trucks everytime I see them! They're gorgeous! But apparently the designers at KW forgot that you need to do simple things, like I don't know, back up! I used to see truck drivers driving those long nose W9's (which I drool over those too everytime I see them) but they were always opening the door and standing on the running boards. That sealed it for me, cause Central has those, and I wanted one until I saw that. Doesn't seem safe at all.

If you hear about a driver falling out of their truck and dying that would be me:(

I would be talking to safety, if it was me. You are a highly rated driver with WEL and surely have some clout even as a rookie. I know of at least one rookie (not me) with Roehl who insisted on them giving him a new Prostar and it happened. Don't sell yourself short on being able to get the truck you want.

I drove our 09 W900 hauling cattle. It didn't seem to difficult backing it up into loading shoots at our ranch or at the cattle depot. And I tell ya, backing a 53' into a shoot no wider than the trailer is a challenge in its self.

But with practice comes experience. And I can tell you this, once you figure out how to back that rig, you wont want to drive anything else. dancing-banana.gif

I honestly cannot wait to get my CDL and drive OTR , regional , dedicated, or local. I kinda envy y'all that are driving right now. Keep safe out there. good-luck.gif

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
