Truck Driver Arrested After Texas Police Officers Find This Inside Loaded Trailer

~ Police Bodycam Video ~

Police officers in Frio County, Texas, discovered 39 undocumented immigrants crammed inside a semi trailer on Wednesday, October 7th. The incident was recorded by an officer’s body camera.

The truck driver, 33-year-old Drew Christopher Potter, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit alien smuggling for financial gain, as well as three counts of transportation of undocumented aliens.

Potter faces up to 10-year in federal prison, as well as a fine up to $250,000 for his alleged involvement.

Officers discovered 28 adult males, 7 adult females, and 4 children inside the trailer. They were taken to Laredo and are in custody of U.S. Border Patrol.

According to ABC News, the driver told officer he was paid to drive the truck and did not know what was inside the trailer.

If you see something, say something! This was reported by a father/son team after noticing something suspicious.

You will not believe what the driver had the audacity to ask for in the police car after being arrested...He was thirsty and needed something to drink wtf-2.gif

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

Some time ago, maybe ten years, a tractor-trailer got stopped at a small truck stop by my house in Texas. It had around 60 illegals on the trailer, about 20 died from heat/suffocation. Someone called the cops when they saw a hand waving a bandana through a hole the people inside had clawed through the rear of the trailer.

My wife made it on the news as she was there picking up beer for me. Terrible way to go.

Just awful. Never ever ever agree to pull a trailer if you don't know what's inside. That driver's career and life are ruined and those people. OMG.

Do drivers normally open to see what the loads are? How would one know one know what's in the trailer besides the shippers docs?

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Depends on the shipper. Sometimes drivers have access to install load locks or otherwise secure the load, other times it is sealed already. Generally if it's s live load you will be closing your doors so you can look in the trailer. Many trailers have inspection doors that you can peak in as well.

Worth noting, for Prime at least, all the trailers we pick up from Mexico are sealed and have customs tape so if someone loaded the trailer with kilos of cocaine I don't think the driver would be held responsible lol.

Dollars to donuts that trailer was not sealed.

My brand new Camaro to your old bicycle the driver knew exactly what was in the back and was going to be paid very well when the "goods" were delivered.

Oh I agree, I'm sure he was in on it. It's not like they are gonna seal a bunch of people in a trailer on the Texas/Mexico border (it's still hot) and wait around for someone to come pick it up. Just speaking for other contraband.

Not so fast! I talked to a driver who was stopped at the border patrol station. There were two people hiding up in the void behind the air dam on top of his mid-roof.

Another driver told me how he was loaded with tarped coils. They loaded two coils on either end of his trailer. (Weird, right?) He stopped for his 10 hour break after he loaded. About five hours into his break, border patrol swarmed his truck. There was a family camping out under his tarp between the coils.
