How long is their company training?

Officially? 4 to 6 weeks. Reality when the trainer says but close enough to to say 4 to 6 weeks. It can be shorter. Depends on how well you do and how well the trainer thinks you are doing. Very often these are two totally different opinions.

One thing you must realize about Tyson. Since we are a service company the normal rule of most companies "The students do not drive after midnight and between 2am and 5 am....is out the window. We do a whole lot of night driving. So training is handled a bit differently than a trucking company.

I hate to throw a negative rock but... I do a fair amount of Tyson loads and the worst part? The smell. Good god! I had to do a 10 hour break at a plant. 4 showers in 2 days and I can still smell it. I can't eat chicken anymore. Also, the wait times are awful. 7 hours in a door getting loaded with an additional 5 hours for paperwork. I'm sure the wait times are more reasonable for company drivers.

What is the average wait time for company drivers ?

The wait times are different for company drivers. At Tyson plants we drop and hook. And we can get the load there early,no matter how early, also and drop. No holding onto the load. While there are a few plants that outside carriers can sleep at ,most plants only allow Tyson drivers to sleep on the property.

But we face the same wait times as everyone else at the big DC's like Walmart,HEB.

Drop And Hook:

Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.

In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

Guy,

I wanted to check in with you to see if you are still enjoying Tyson? I am pretty sure that is where I want to work if I decide to go temperasure control, but I wanted to see if you have ran into any issues.

The main reasons I like Tyson is being able to sleep at their properties and I assume that the miles are consistently good?
