There is NO cutting corners, when it comes to studying to learn what you will need for your permit, endorsements, and for your school. You can't rush it, cuz you won't learn it. You really have 2 choices..Put off taking your permit, endorsements, and going to school, so you can go thru the High Road Training, or try to cram what you can, and hope that you will pick up the rest at school as you need it. Its a risky thing, but you seem to be in a hurry...thats something that will bite you in the derriere later on in your life..whether it be trucking or any other job... In cdl school, you will see others that come to school with no extra learning...they didn't find TT...You will see some struggle thru, and you'll see some struggle and go home...cdl school is INTENSE....

Congratulations Steve, wow that's going to be a crash course on that High Road Training Program, but I know you will benefit from it greatly. I think I spent weeks on that thing, but I mostly worked on it in the evenings.
Really excited for you, and can't wait to hear some reports back from you once your out there on the front lines. Keep it up, and let us know if there is anything we can help you with.

Congrats on choosing a school! I am still debating. Good luck cramming for the High Road Training Program

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Ahhh, darn thing didnt add the rest of my post. So I was saying I have been doing the test for almost 2 weeks about 3-4 hrs a day. But where there's a will there's way!
I really think it would have made it much easier on you if you would have started the high road before you called the companies. That way you would have a lot of time to slowly learn and memorize everything but now you'll have to cram it in which will make it more stressful for you. When you start school they'll be cramming things all day even while you sleep so get used to the cramming.
But nonetheless, congrats on your choice and good luck sir I'm excited for you!
I know the cramming will be a lot, but I honestly did not expect the application process to go so fast. Prime was my first choice, and I applied online Tuesday night. Everything was squared away to go by this morning. I think the one benefit of me obtaining my bachelor's degree before choosing trucking is that I've learned how to cram efficiently. Thanks everyone.

Congrats and good luck. I'm hoping to start at Prime on the 20th. I may have to push it back another week or two if certain things don't fall into place. Its going to be tough going through the training program in such a short time. Like the others said it can take a while. You may want to skip the endorsements and focus on the main tests needed to get the permit. That will save some time and you can add them later.
Best of luck to you, maybe I'll see you down there at some point. I look forward to reading about your experience.
How is the program geared? I was told that they don't offer CDL training. You have to obtain your CDL then you can apply as a student driver for them?
Did they recently change their policy or implement a new school?

They offer cdl training. You don't have to have your permit but its recommended. 1week classroom. 2-4 weeks on road with trainer. Obtain cdl. Go back out with another trainer for a certain number of miles. Go solo.

Yeah, Prime has training. We have a mountain of great information on all of the Company-Sponsored Training Programs, including Prime Inc's Company Training Program

A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.
The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.
If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.
Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.

I will begin company sponsored CDL training with Prime on August 13th. I couldn't be more excited for this opportunity. Tomorrow and Saturday I have already committed to a family event, but come Sunday I will be plowing through the High Road Training Program, and Wednesday I will take my permit test at the local secretary of state. Then next weekend I will be in a bus headed for Springfield. I'll make a training diary thread when I get there. Thank you everyone for all the useful information on this site that helped me to make my choice.
