This may not be an easy question or maybe not even a fair question but here goes...

What trucking companies maintain their trucks the best?

What companies have the newest equipment ?

I can't speak for other companies but with prime the tractors are primarily 2015 and up. There are some 13s and a decent amount of 14s still but are being sold off. Trucks are usually gone by 450k miles.Trailers vary in age, we have some as old as 2006 still in use, but the majority are 2010 and newer. We are bringing in a lot of 16s, do they are selling off a lot of the older trailers to make room.

Pretty much all of the largest carriers take excellent care of their equipment and most of it is less than 3-5 years old. Small to midsize companies can vary dramatically. It really depends on the philosophy of the owner.

Another thing that affects the age and condition of a company's trucks is the current economic cycle. When freight demand is strong the companies tend to trade in their trucks earlier and the average age of their fleet stays really low, usually under three years old. When freight slows the companies often times look to save some money by hanging on to their trucks a little longer.
