My guess is the school could get him some range time, since this is a re-test. You could always pull out "reasonable accommodation" if you need to.
Sorry I'm late to respond to this one. Yeah, most of the time the school will allow more practice for a retest. Sometimes it's free, other times you may have to pay a little more. It just depends on how the school is set up. If you can't make any headway through the school he went to, speak with other schools in the area about paying a fee for practice time. We have a listing of truck driving schools for you to look them up.
Post's like this really hit home with me. I also have a learning disability and was told I'd never get my cdls or be a professional driver. They were wrong!!!! I to had problems with backing and shifting and took me longer and had to retest backing 3 times but I did it. Luckily my 2nd school was very patient and determined to see me succeed. Please tell your son not to give up. If there is anything I can do to help please let me know.

My son lives in E Oklahoma and has Asperger's Syndrome which is on the Autistic scale. He has gone to the CDL school in Ardmore and has passed the state test components except for the backing. All he need is more reps and more time in the drivers seat. Can anyone assist me in finding him a resource for some extra time in the drivers seat before he retests next month?
Thank you
Jeff
