I talked to C.R. England last night. They're pushing hard for me to start next monday the 12th in Richland Indianan. I've also contacted Celedon, CRST, Knight, Roehl, and about a half dozen others.

Chris, I got a text from them for me to call them but they aren't my first choice...they are running a special where if you start on the 12th you get free tuition.

They told me that too, but it makes no sense. If its free tuition, then why do they still require you to sign a 9 month contract for a school that they aren't charging you for?!?!

Still; if i cant WIA SC to approve my application, then I might have to take them up on their offer. confused.gif

They won't charge you if you stay for the 9 months. If you leave early you have to pay tuition.

We have received your application for a truck driving job with C.R. England and would like to inform you of our special for Monday, August 12, 2013. Come in on Monday, and instead of paying the regular $100 admin fee, you pay ZERO!

That’s right, for August 12 only we are waiving the Admin fee! Don't miss out on this great opportunity!

Also for starting on August 12, you will receive ZERO* TUITION for your truck driver training. This offer is available for students who start on August 12 ONLY. We have limited space, so call now!

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I'd read the fine print before signing anything. It seems to be too good to be true. Get more details.

Personally, I'm heading to Prime. Hopefully in the next few eeks. The 20th is my target, but there are other factors effecting my choice. I've been accepted, just need to get there.

My advice is to findxa company that works for you. Don't just jump at the cheapest, or something like that. If your going to sign a contract to work for someone make sure you are happy with everything. Don't just jump in blindly. You may end up unhappy in a few months because you overlooked something.

Don't let them pressure you, I've been getting that same e-mail every week for an entire year now, and I'm not even looking for schooling .

Ok I called them and was told that both CT and NV are on their "we don't take that state" list. I even offered to move back to florida, my city (clearwater/tampa) is outside their hiring area. So that is not both rohel and CREngland that has said call us, only to be told no. I have a list of things from prime that they need from me. So I may have to take an semi-extreme step and go stay with my aunt in Indiana for a few weeks and get a DL from there. Why does CT suck so much? I'm going to not give up hope and just keep looking.

Aces, that might not work. You'll have to have an Indiana DL for one year before you can get a CDL permit from here. Though I guess you could just use it to get a permit somewhere else...

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I'm not to sure about any state having a "year rule" prior to cdl permit....that would be something you may be able to find online, or make a phone call to the state dmv...theres so many states changing their laws when it comes to cdl's, both permits, schools, and CLD class a's...Its all about gettin' that revenue...bringing in that money......They have all sat back and learned from CA rofl-3.gif

That's interesting. I read the page and it does indeed say you need an Indiana license for one year. I wonder what that means for people who move to Indiana and want to get their CDL. Would you have to live in the state for an entire year and put your career (and life) on hold for an entire year before you could get your CDL? That certainly doesn't sound right. I wonder what they would say about that?
