Errol can I ask what you are carrying? It's been my experience. That non food places will take you when ever you show if they have a dock for you. Also is this part of your dedicated run or a back haule?

Sure, since you asked.

Cardboard boxes (flat, on pallets). I'm dedicated for Georgia Pacific.

You're right about food/non-food. Once I showed up early with a load of automobile tires (hand loaded herringbone style). Had to wait two hours, even though I didn't see any activity on the dock.

Dedicated Run:

A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."

I haule a lot of wire, beer and tile, in my back haule. To Cali , its almost always first come 7 am to 5 pm. If I haule a reefer load back its almost always Safeway or Costco and its your appointment or nothing at all. Just my experience.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Final results: I decided to go for an early Arrived At Final Destination.

Left my overnight spot at 5am (all times EST), rolled in to Final at 9am.

A bit of friendly hem-haw (yes, some receivers can be upset that I came so early) and I docked at 9:30. Getting unloaded a bit later. My DM's happy, so am I.

Knew it. You're so good you are right even when you think you're wrong.

Btw; agree on the team thing with the DM. I treat it the same way. Was just being a smarta$$.

Have a great weekend.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Steve thinks he needs to apologize:

You know how it is: your DM tells you where to go, you decide how to do it.

As for the DM; you are the captain of that ship.

You must drive for Schneider😁

Yes I do and damn glad to. I am really glad other companies work for other people and this one works for me. Maybe all that competition (for drivers) keeps the pay reasonable. :)

Schneider is a great company. I wish it would have worked out for me, but their training was to short for me to feel comfortable. I became a solo driver for them, but I didn't feel comfortable. They are s solid company though. They make you feel a part of the family!
