GDOE counters:
Exactly right, but cant always time deliveries, early am. Get a pickup afternoon, have to really drive until well past midnight
The only time I've had "problems", and they aren't problems, is with 4-6pm times. Other than that, I'd rather watch the sunrise.
Oh, yes:
Get a pickup afternoon, have to really drive until well past midnight. Fun trying to find parking at 2am
It's all in the planning. That's why circles don't have ends.

I love driving nights, but have to take into consideration, weather, area, available truck stops and delivery times. Dont want to make it to Chicago right at 8am..do ya?

Naah. I'd rather do Dallas.

Ha ha! I did the GWB and Manhattan at 7:30 a.m. the other day - and lived to tell the tale!
Tonya, on a side note, some states will ticket drivers who park on the ramps. I saw a Virginia state trooper handing out tickets to three different drivers this morning around 7:30 who were parked next to "no parking - strictly enforced" signs on the ramp out of a rest area this morning. North Carolina also has a new law where they will ticket drivers parked on ramps.
And no, there isn't enough safe and legal truck parking in this great country of ours.
Is it me, or are drivers starting to pull into truck stops earlier and earlier?

I agree with you there. I'd imagine part of it is the anticipation of winter setting in and wanting to shut down before the sun goes down and roads get worse. I'm probably wrong, just an opinion lol

Tonya, If you type the words "Trip Planning" and/or "Hours of Service" in the search bar, you will get numerous TT links on the subjects that can provide you with additional insight. Not sure if you are in school or considering it, but HOS and trip planning are covered. Once you are in the road-training phase of your experience, trip planning will again be covered by your trainer and you will experience real world examples of it.
HOS:
Hours Of Service
HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
