DOT Physical - Driver Exemptions
DOT:
Department Of Transportation
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
I don't understand that at all, because any cdl requires a dot physical, whether it is class A or class B. I think if she can get a class B, she should be able to go to school for a class A.
Someone jump in here if I'm wrong.
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Thanks! I thought so too something just didnt make sense about what they told her.. She has to pass the test by covering one eye but she can't do that with one eye.. I think that's why they said no.. She needs the one eye to read with the other.. If that makes sense

Hey all I have an aunt who wants to be a trucker and she tried going to a school for it but they said she can't get a class A cuz of her eyes but could get a class B.. Can someone explain this to me? I know she really wants to be a trucker and I was wondering if there was maybe a way for her to get her class A another way?
