I got my permit today! Weirdly for the air brake section none of that was in the booklet or on the high road training program. The lady said everybody has complained about that and they were looking into it. But I guessed the entire way through and still passed lol.

I start school on the 30th. I'm ready to go lol.

Are you sure it wasnt the air horn test you were taking, cause it seems like H.R covers all of the info needed to pass the air break test?. LOL, congrats on passing and getting yourself lined up to start a new career. Be safe and have fun,,,

Thanks TorqueSide.

And Carl, I am absolutely sure. It was just the basic CDL test (general knowledge, combination, and airbrakes). I asked the lady why it wasn't in the state manual either (I used high road too) and she said they'd gotten a lot of complaints about that and that they were looking into it. I don't too much care one way or the other because I got what I needed. But it is kind of not fair. How do you give a test to someone with the wrong study material?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Congratulations Little Trucker!

There is nothing wrong with guessing, especially if it is an educated guess. We home schooled our three children, and a big part of their education was "critical thinking" skills. They were taught to eliminate possible wrong answers through a logical approach to a problem, which will more times than not bring you to the proper answer. They were not particularly gifted or talented, but they did extremely well when it came to testing in situations like the SAT or standardized tests for university entrance. Consequently they mostly went to their higher educational studies on academic scholarships, and then went on to graduate with highest honors.

My point in sharing all that useless information is sort of a reinforcement of the idea that I think your studying of the High Road Training Program probably helped you tremendously in your ability to guess what the proper answers were to those unusual questions you encountered.

Very glad to see you made it through - again, Congratulations!

Thanks, Old School. Determination and dedication were also a big part of it. I really want to do this. Now on to the next stage. Learning how to drive these trucks.
