Born in Jersey, raised in mid-west farm country, 30 years in SF Bay Area. Semi-retired in Vegas.
That...was... an interesting way to read about where someone is from... I won't make a story out of it, but since you did I'll list off all the places I ahve lived that I can remember.... you guys better go make some popcorn...
I was born in Orange, CA (yes the city which is also in the county of orange) I don't know where we lived in my first few years however I do have memories of living at my great grandfathers for some period of time. He lived in La Palma, CA I remember my mother and step dad (bio dad left my mom before I was born), sister and I lived in an apartment in the orange county area, it was in this point in time of my life I learned to ride a bike with training wheels and shortly after without them. It is also where my home was burglurized while we were away... I remember when the cops dusted for prints our giant big screen tv (think early 90s big screen.... very very big and heavy) had prints all over it and was maybe moved an inch... it looked like the robbers tried to make love to the tv... We were tired of the crime in that area so my stepdad transferred in his company to florida, we hopped in the rv and moved to the Orlando area, lived there for a little while then moved up to the Atlanta area. Lived in Atlanta for about a year in an apartment on the 2nd floor under some Samoans... Later we moved into a duplex in the same property and lived there for about a year, it was then that I discovered electricity... our dog had chewed up a power cord into multiple pieces while not plugged in and I (not knowing any better) plugged in the plug end... nice loud pop and a burn mark on the floor... and a very scared me. Eventually we bought a house and moved up to Roswell, GA. lived there for about 3 years or so then my mom got divorced and we packed up whatever we could of our stuff into her mits eclips... yeah not much, def not her 2 footlockers of mint condition first edition marvel comics... yeah i'm a bit salty over that today... but anyways we drove back to cali and lived with my great grand father again. for about a year then we moved up to Desert hot springs, ca with my mother's mom, for about 7-8 months then we moved in with mom's newest bf in his 5th wheel trailer. couple years down the road we moved into a nice little 3bed 1 bath house that we only paid $500 a month rent for (california... this is like dirt cheap rent). eventually they broke up and he moved out so it was just me my mom and sister, then when she turned 18 she moved out... and back in at one point and then out again.
eventually my mom got another bf, shortly after we moved in with him... big mistake but that's another story. lived at his place for about 6 months, he started doing crack, lost all the big paying clients of his company (he owned a home remodel business that was focused on big rich people homes in Palm Springs, ca) so we got evicted from the house he was living in, moved back in with grandma, then his insurance finally rebuilt the house he owned that was burned down some couple years prior, lived there for about 3 months then his ex who signed away all rights to the house got a judge to make him sell it and give her half the profit. my sister was living in vegas and wanted to move to a diff part but still had 3 months on her lease, she let us live there and paid rent for final 3 months, then we moved into a trailer in north las vegas (about 2 blocks from nellis air force base). after about a year and a half there my mom finally got rid of the crack head bf (crack head is a literal term here... he was doing crack still). we wanted away from him, sister wanted to move from vegas, had decent memories from east coast so we moved to Columbus, OH. lived in the Hilliard area for about 6 months, then west side of Columbus for about a year and a half then Johnstown, OH for 2.5 more years. got tired of winters up north and moved to Houston, TX. lived there for 3 years then I moved to Austin, TX and mother moved to San Antonio. I had a pretty crappy home situation in Austin, lived in a total of 4 places in 1.5 years. an apartment that me and room mate were evicted from when we both lost jobs, then a church owned house full of bed bugs (worst insect ever, would not wish them on my worst enemy), then a college co-op, then a studio 6 extended stay motel. when job cut my hours so bad i couldn't afford to live in austin no more I moved down to san antonio back in with my mother who had broken up with her most recent bf and been living on her own.
Continued on next post cause my story is so long.....
Operating While Intoxicated
Rest of my story:
Feb of the following year (about 2 months later) which would be 2013, I did my first term of AmeriCorps NCCC. worked and lived in: Perry Point, MD 2 parts of eastern MD I can't remember town names of but they were very rural Winterthur, DE (yes the city is spelled right) Moonachie, NJ, actually lived in a diff part about 15 miles NE but forgot the town name, was named after a giant rock in the middle of city. lived in franklin square, ny while working in Rockaway Beach area (so lived in long island area but worked in queens, ny area) lived and worked in Lawarance, Mass... about 10 miles from NH border :) baltimore, MD Marian, mass Denver / loveland, CO for a red cross disaster deployment Rockport, Maine Yeah I traveled a bit in year 1... 5 projects. most of them split between multiple places
after coming home I lived with my mom again, then did a 2nd year of AmeriCorps NCCC. this time based out of Vicksburg, MS project 1 I lived and worked at Cumberland Falls state park in the Corbin, KY area, for a month then we went to Carter Caves State park in Olive Hill, KY for another month. project #2 we were in Scooba, MS for 2 weeks, then New Orleans, LA for 1 month. Project #3 Tuscaloosa, AL for a month, then Asheville, NC for a month Project #4 I was on a diff team for a comp round, 3.5-4 weeks in Front Royal, VA then back to my regular team in Vicksburg for final 3 weeks of project and final week of term Returned home to San Antonio, been there ever since living with my mother. Not proud of it but not ashamed of it either. We split the expenses and it makes it cheaper for both of us. I told you my story was long, so long it needed 2 posts!
to give a summary: born in california, lived multiple places then florida then GA then cali again Then Las vegas, NV columbus, oh area houston, tx austin, tx san antonio, tx and multiple places for short times in ne and southern states of usa.
also another fun fact about me travel related, I have been to all but 10 of the states so far, 2 of those 10 being AK and HA... lets see if trucking can get the other 8 at least!
Operating While Intoxicated
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
WOW! And I thought we, were Gypsies as a kid! lol Born in Yuba City, Calif. Never been there since, maybe 1 day will go just to check it out.
Furthest back I remember was 1963, when I was 4. Stayed at great gramps farm, in Kansas City, Missouri. Remember watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan Show, (CBS ch 2) lol Black & white tv , gunsmoke and all those shows....JFK's assassination as well. My mom cried for hours. I used to get in trouble climbing the apple trees eating and wasting apples. Gramps had a 1955 BelAir 4 dr in the barn, no running water inside had well pump. Grams cooked on old iron wood burning stove.... Lived in K.S., Kansas too a short bit.
Remember coming back to Calif, to Modesto, stayed with my aunt and her family. Then to an uncles in Santa Rosa, Cal. He raised rabbits, and St Bernards. Gave us a dog, I only remember coming home on freeway near home, and seeing bunch of emercency equip. on freeway. Turns out was our dog , had chewed off his rope and found his way to the freeway :(
1967 We Settled in Baldwin Park, Calif., San Gabriel Valley, in L.A. County. Finally dad bought a house and we settled in. Seeing the house now, I wonder how all 7 of us fit inside that small place! Went to school from 2nd grade thru hugh school there. I moved out in 1979 @ 19 and never looked back. Married at 23, 1981, had 2 kids, divorced 1987, kept my kids, and went on with life as a single dad. And took the ex to DA's for child support, just to prove to her, it could be done! hahaha
The So. Cali beaches suck! The water is nasty, dark, ugly colored. The low lifes and scumbags started going and ruint the beaches for me. Back in high school, me and my friends spent many a year at the beach pre-1980, all along the coast, surfin, from Huntington Beach to San Onofre,to Baja Cali.......

better than most of the beaches in Texas... they don't get nice till you get down near Mexico. They stays brown looking till around orange beach, al. difference between cali beaches and and nasty gulf beaches, the cali beaches look nice from a distance... the brown gulf water looks like brown water even from afar.
There are no intelegent life forms born North or East of CaliforniaThat's because too many of you have escaped and are now residing in those areas you have described...
Born and raised in Western Washington. Alaska, Texas and Tennessee before finding my home in the wide open spaces filled with mountains, plains, snow and sunshine, the headwaters of the mighty MO and the only state in the country that has rivers eventually end up in 3 different seas. Atlantic, Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico.
SAY WHAT???
I have a close friend that migrated to Montana from San Diego. He sends me pictures of beautiful deer crossing the grass lands, big beautiful shots of open blue skies, and small, homely, little towns where everybody knows one another. I tells me how peaceful it is up there. How the government don't bug them and no stupid EPA laws like in The Nation of California.
Every time I look at all those pictures, and there are hundreds, all I see is an;
EMPTY, LONELY, NONSOCIAL, SNOW COVERED, WIND BLOWN, COLD A$% STATE.
I LIKE PEOPLE, IN FACT, I LOVE THE CALIFORNIA POPULATION, AS A WHOLE. WE GOT SOME KNUCKLEHEADS, BUT THE MAJORITY OF CALIFORNIANS ARE OPEN MINDED, PROGRESSIVE, INTELLIGENT, CARING PEOPLE, IF YOU DON'T COUNT L.A..
Its OK though, we are just ahead of our third word neighbors, New Mexico, Washington, Wyoming, Montana, etc., etc.
Keep on keeping On, My Brother Trucker
LOL, just the way I like it.
And just for everyone's knowledge, I don't have an issue with people moving to this wonderful state. Just don't try to change it to match what you had in your other state. Californians are the worst for this. You already screwed up one state, two if you count Colorado, don't screw up mine. And wasting money on things that are not necessities is just wrong. We have several bridges over the interstate with either sidewalks or separate walkways away from vehicle traffic.
The lighted tunnel, which is 10 feet by 10 feet and spans 180 feet under Interstate 15, cost nearly $1 million of federal money. Construction of the tunnel began this year, and was completed Oct. 17
I can think of a lot of people that you can feed and clothe for nearly $1 million. Not against getting bikes and pedestrians off the roadways but there are more pressing needs in this country, like paying down the debt.
Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

Yes, they have screwed up my state, but let's not forget the other foreigners who have contributed greatly to its demise: Texans.
And far worse than demanding bridges and tunnels for pedestrians and bicycles, some of these folks have been buying 35 acre ranchettes 20 miles off the main road to get away from it all and then demanding ridiculous things like paving dirt roads and sending snow plows out their way. We tell them to get a 4WD vehicle. Then they think that 4WD makes them impervious to snow and ice, which is why you will often see them on their roofs in the median in Colorado. (This is also why some of them never make it as far as Montana. You're welcome, Pat.)
I'm not even going to go into the whole "pot tourism" thing, other than to say that California has much nicer weather, and Seattle has a much bigger hipster scene, and they're not any more expensive than Denver has become. And the pot is a lot better on the West Coast. Nothing to see in Colorado either. It costs less to fly to the West Coast, too. And the women are better looking on the coast. And skiing is way overpriced. Plus all of us have guns and vote Republican. Seriously, get that idea out of your mind and just head to Escondido or somewhere.
Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices
Ok. Here's my story.
Born in Newport Beach, CA. Lived for some short time in Yuma, AZ and Honolulu, HI before moving to Japan where I lived until I was 17, then moved back to the US (Maryland). That was in 1988, and I've been in the DMV area ever since (currently in VA).
I might not have lived in very many places, but I've visited every state except Alaska (one day I'll make it there), the 6 border provinces of Canada, several places in the Caribbean, and many places in Central and South America and most of Europe (and Russia). Places I would love to eventually visit would be Alaska, Antarctica, India, and New Zealand. And if I haven't died yet, then I'll hit the far east countries I haven't been to yet. The turmoil in the Middle East is regretable and unfortunate. My mother visited (and lived) in the area many many years ago, and it was beautiful country and I would have loved to have visited that area as well.
My plan is that 50% of my pay from trucking will be put into savings. In 5 years that money will go to remodeling our condo. The second 5 years will be a lump sum mortgage payment to bring the balance owed on the mortgage down significantly. The third 5 years will buy a piece of property for cash on the water somewhere in Port Townsend or Port Angeles (or somewhere on the Discovery Bay) in Washington. Then when we sell our condo sometime after that we'll take that cash and build our tiny house on the water and I'll have tea every morning on my front porch overlooking the water while my dogs play on the beach while I plan on where I'm going to be visiting next.
I'll touch back when all these things happen. Hahahaha!

I know that vampires exist. Hence, the name. My covenant calls me....something else. ;)
Yes, I am very feminine. Love high heels, little black dress and my long hair...lol But I also love big toys. Big trucks, big motorcycles, big pick-ups, big guns...go big or go home, right?
Kidding asides, I've always seen big rigs are the kings of the road. I want to be a queen (or....princess?) of those roads. I love to drive. I love to see new places. Why not do it while making money?
I'm supposed to start classes in December. However, I ran into a bit of a proble. with my DOT physical (no, not drug related for this gal). I do not know what I want to drive. I believe I'm open minded for that aspect, but I also need to be physically efficient, which makes flat bed probably not for me....*if* I do OTR , it will only be for a short time to get the experience I need. I'd prefer regional so I can be home regularly for my daughter. My goal is local. :)
As far as being safe out there.....I might be the feminine type, but I'm also fierce and don't take any bullsh*t from anyone, and even though I might initially fear something or someone, I quickly overcome this and then go into defensive mode. I have a strong sense of self preservation. Therefor I do not put myself into situations that are detrimental to my safety. I'm a lover, not a fighter...but if you come after me to hurt me....I might just kill you. One bite, is all it takes. *wink* hahahahaha!
Regional:
Regional Route
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
OTR:
Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
DOT:
Department Of Transportation
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
HOS:
Hours Of Service
HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
