I think I'll do fine in the truck tho. It's just people noises that gets on my nerves (snoring, shuffling around the room, scratching throat, etc.) Usually a vehicle engine puts me to sleep. :) Now if my co/driver wants to listen to music....I'll try to either put the fan noise on high right next to my ears and will only use earplugs if necessary, as these keep me from sleeping comfortably. I'm a side sleeper and the ear plugs don't feel comfy pushing in. Ugh...lol

No worries, I too am a side sleeper, the earplugs I swear by are the type that compress when inserting in your ear, then they slowly expand filling your ear hole. I never, ever feel them. I use them to sleep in my truck even as a solo driver. Maybe worth a try for you...trust me, when the truck is moving at 60plus mph, the bunk can vibrate loudly and abruptly.

I'll make sure to get some, just in case. :)

Boomshaker, where you from? And I assume that's not your first name? lol!!

I am in the Philly area. Home of every losing professional sports team. LOL Eagles stink, Phillies stink, Sixers omg don't get me started, Flyers aint going no where. But hey, I only have to walk or drive a few blocks in any direction and drown my losing sports team sorrows in a big juicy cheese steak. LOL As for the name why can't it be? LOL

Well, I guess because I'm in Western MA, I have to cheer on the Bruins, Patriots and the Red Sox, by default. But I can't forget my childhood hockey nights with Waine Gretzky and Guy Lafleur.

As far as the name, that would be a first. How did your parents come up with "Boomshaker"? Was there an earthquake when you were born or were you an awesome bum shaker as a toddler? lol

Mom and dad, I'd like you to meet Boomshaker. After a few minutes of them getting up off the floor you can tell them, it's all good folks. He's had his rabbis shots. To which you hear another floor thump! LOL Bum shaker? LOL You are so close to the truth. I have dj'd all across the country and guest spotted a few times in south america. So you are on the right track with the name. lol I like the Patriots but let's face it. A team that has been plagued with cheating scandals is no real team.

P.S. are you in trucking school now?

Not yet. Supposed to start December 26th and I even paid a deposit to reserve my spot, but I'm running into some issues with my physical. So I'm not sure what's going on. :(

What kind of music did you DJ with?

I hope you get passed what ever is stopping you from getting your physical. When I got mine here in Philly it was very simple. Just a genric eyes, nose, blood pressure and hearing. and other small stuff. Hopefully you can get passed this and start school soon. As far as music, because I was in a club setting. It was mostly House, Club, Dance, Reggae, Rap. In south america you are basically playing to tourists who basically listen to anything while drinking. You could play frank sinatra at 130bpm and they would still dance. LOL Someone bet me once I couldn't remix guns-n-roses sweet child of mine and a house beat at the same time. THEY LOST and I won a bottle of Remy Martin Louis XIII. lol It was a good time.

Well, I guess that I can now figure out that "Boomshaker" is not really your first name. ;)

I used to listen to a LOT of house, but mostly trance. That was in my wildest years of going to underground raves in Montreal, where we'd get the address of the party at the last minute by calling a temporary phone line. Those were the days. I'd go there dressed with a mini skirt, a blouse and a jacket (blazer) and look preppy, while everyone else was on some sort of drugs, wearing funky clothing attire. I'd make friends with the Bouncer, dance some, and otherwise spend the night people watching....it was always a riot to see who was making it out still standing...lol

PS I sent a private message, as to stop clogging this thread with irrelevant posts! lol

I was reading an earlier post in regards to a television in the room. *If* I was to share a room with someone (which I don't plan on doing), I'd probably keep the tv off anyway. When I am home, the tv is shut off all day. It's either quiet or I play music. I only watch tv at night, some of my shows or a good movie to relax before I go to sleep. But not knowing what a roommate likes, I'd rather just use my laptop or iPad with earbuds. Or just go to sleep. :)

To me it's actually not so much about my stuff disappearing, but more of having my own privacy, specially after a long day, I want to be able to relax, not have to worry about what I'm wearing to bed or walking around my room (or NOT wearing), and I sleep VERY lightly, therefor I wake up at every little sound someone makes. I also CANNOT sleep without white noise (a fan) and a lot of people like complete silence. I also can't sleep in complete darkness. That's not even mentioning how I'd get annoyed/grossed out by some other aspects of sharing tight quarters with a stranger.

I guess this is why I'd never do good in an emergency shelter (I have a big generator so I can stay home) and I already told my kids to never send me to a retirement home. Just give me a kill pill! lolllll

I am the same exact way i can't sleep without "white noise" I have a fan in my room running when i sleep too even in the winter. It gets so quiet where i live you can hear someone fart the next house over lol

Like i said this may be trivial to some but to me it's an important issue. If you don't sleep well at orientation it can screw up your chances of passing the training. But if i'm forced to share a room i will do it and tough it out ofcorse. Maybe i'll bring a tiny desk fan with me that will fit in a backpack.

You could also bring a small tent and set it up in the room HAHAH! just kidding
