I'm new to this and it's my third week of school. I'm under alot of pressure because I can up shift just fine but downshifting has proved to be my downfall. I'm trying my best but I'm worried I won't get good enough on time for my cdl. Just feel like I'm never going to be as good.
You will "get it". If you can double clutch "up", work "down" the same. The timing is similar. Two things to keep in mind: most people have a hard time with that new style of shifting, and you will learn just enough to get through your test. Later when you're on your own you will reach a point where you hardly think about it.
Driving school has a lot of frustration in it - you aren't the only one feeling the pressure.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
To engage and then disengage the clutch twice for every gear change.
When double clutching you will push in the clutch, take the gearshift out of gear, release the clutch, press the clutch in again, shift the gearshift into the next gear, then release the clutch.
This is done on standard transmissions which do not have synchronizers in them, like those found in almost all Class A trucks.
