Day 8 Tuesday Dec 8th
Thanks Scott and John for the support. Good luck to you both.
Well I can say I hit snooze 3 times this am and finally rolled outta bed at 530 was able to get the free breakfast at the hotel as my roomate didnt need to put air in his tire today. Weather was warm at 30 degrees. Made it in at 645 and had a training class at 7 The Roehl way. Using safe seven technique. Now some of it was common sense but some of it was great stuff about safe driving too. Some where after the second break it must of been death by power point because the dryness of the topic was more than I could take and nodded off for a couple minutes. After that we went outside and pretripped our truck and went to lunch. I stayed in and caught up on the news today instead of studing. My brain was tapped after the this mornings lecture. After lunch all 3 of us drove . Today was moderate city route and when my turn came I asked my instructor to hit the back roads one more time. No problem he said. So we did and again my shifting up and down and was great. Another 40 miles in of practice for me. So we headed back to the terminal and low and behold a curve ahead and rr tracks and a major intersection just beyond. So I down shifted great approaching the curve but was focused on the darn intersection and speed over tracks anticipating the light and low and behold a yellow light so went to put in 5th and couldnt after a coiple tries just ended up stppoing in neiutral. A major nono. My instructor informed me I was at to high of rpm for 5th and it was one of those duh moments but ya think I saw it then?...nope. lol. Needless to say he said im where I need to be and reminded me its training for a reason. All in all another day comes to an end. Im excited to drive again tommarrow. Oh btw. We found out test day is the 22nd. So now I have an end in sight. Next week will be evals sometime too.
Terminal:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
HOS:
Hours Of Service
HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
