Doesn't help when you drive into it and don't see it coming. It's not safe to just park anywhere.
Yeah. If you can't see, you pull over and stop. Simple.
I know a lot of people think they will be OK in limited visibility, but it only takes one stopped car in the fog to ruin your day.
Errol- Would you pull over on shoulder?
I think I would slow way down, drive for 30 min or longer until I find off ramp. I'm afraid me driving 10 mph on Interstate that I could be the originator of the accident.
I know you addressed Errol but I wanted to respond since my thoughts are similar to yours in that case. When it gets that bad, I don't ever want to leave myself out there as a target on the side of the road. I'd ease out of it and find the nearest exit to get off the main road.

The real Errol speaks/writes:
If visibility dropped so I couldn't see the white lines and hardly past the hood, I'd move to the shoulder, and, yes, 5 mph to an off ramp or till the weather clears some.
I already mentioned it's easier to tow a semi & trailer out of snow and mud than it is to pull it up off its side and pick up freight scattered all over. Your FM would thank you for that.
@Robert, you know there are stretches of interstate where the of ramps are 30 miles apart. At 5 mph, spring will arrive before you get off the highway. But you'd be alive.

Must be real slow!!
Just want to put it out there but if it's bad enough that I need to pull off to the sholder and wait for conditions to improve , I would black my truck out no lights at all. Don't want some one to see me and think I am moving.

That's actually what your 4-way flashers are for. YOU WANT TO BE SEEN WHEN CONDITIONS ARE THAT BAD.

I agree that's what your hazards are for, in most states if your driving signifently under the speed limit you run with your hazards on. So if your in bad visibility and sitting on the side of the road. With hazards on and stoped some one can come up on you and tHink your moving when you are not. If your blacked out it makes you less visible. Hopfuly some one driving, by will just think you ran off the road, and not try to fallow you.

Traffic warning triangles, flares, whatever let's people know you are stopped. A blacked out big rig on the side of the road that is suddenly there out of nowhere can cause potentially dangerous reactions.
