So, my story so far. I went to a private CDL school to get my license. Had trouble with the backing and a 4 week school turned into 11. I got my CDL on the second try. I get accepted to Averitt Express, and even though I got my 2 year card in KY, I am on medical hold from their Dr. because he doesn't like that I have stents. He has had my records from my cardiologist for almost a week, and when I called yesterday he still hasn't looked at them. I had an accident a couple weeks ago cutting down a fallen tree, and a rather large limb fell on my right shoulder. The pain continued to escalate and I went to my Dr. today, and he thinks I tore my rotator cuff....AGAIN. I doubt I could get even pull myself into the truck now.

So, after not being able to work for 5 1/2 years, and finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel, life is dangling the carrot a little further out of reach again. Once I DO get on the road, I am not ever coming out of the damn truck. :)

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Ok, here's what can happen next. Averitt called today to tell me they are rescinding my offer of employment because the Dr. won't approve me. Oh well, was nice going to the orientation. I now think of it as a mini vacation. lol

Have you had a stress test lately?

Last stress test I had was good. Last heart cath I had everything is clear. My Cardiologist said I am in the best shape I have been in since I been going to him, and sees no reason that I can't drive a truck.

If you can get those test results and give them to the medical examiner they should be able to clear you.
