thanks... I'll read this and see what I can get from it that I have not already learned...
funny thing is, my trucking school teachers have no idea about this law going into effect... as well as a good many others... plus the book we are using is from around 2012... I can tell because it says "current law" blah blah blah then "new law going into effect" for some time in 2012... obviously those are the current laws and the new ones may not be current either.
I also learned texas dps will allow you to float gears to shift when you take driving exam... as long as you don't grind em... grind em and they'll make you come back next week and try again... but dbl clutching this time.

Electronic Logbook
A device which records the amount of time a vehicle has been driven. If the vehicle is not being driven, the operator will manually input whether or not he/she is on duty or not.
Float Gears:
An expression used to describe someone who is shifting gears without using the clutch at all. Drivers are taught to "Double Clutch" or press and release the clutch twice for each gear shift. If you're floating gears it means you're simply shifting without using the clutch at all.
