Rite Turn, that's actually not the reason I am flying out of hometime. My truck broke down in Cleveland, OH and has been out of service for two weeks. The company had me recover a truck and take it to a terminal near my home. After I turned it in my wife picked me up on our car and I went home. I turned in my recovery truck and my usual truck is fixed so the company is flying me out to pick it up my repaired truck then I roll for another month.
Your job offer is an interesting one. But personally, and you could be different, that job offer wouldn't work for me. I'm not very comfortable with flying and being assigned a different truck each month. Sometimes the trucks can be filthy from other drivers and I couldn't put up with that. That hometime is nice though. However I don't know your situation and I do not have any experiences with a company that operates like that so all I can give is my opinion.

Daniel, thanks for the reply. I have had the same thoughts as you about a different truck every month and all the problems that would go with that arrangement. I am still trying to decide and hope that someone on the forum might have some knowledge or experience doing this and would comment. I do have many years of driving and guess I could move on if it doesn't work. Thanks again for your reply. I enjoy your advice for new drivers and that of many others on the forum.
No problem. Another thing is that flights are always delayed especially in the winter. I mean, I left Sac in the morning and I arrived in Cleveland at 3am at night it took 18 hours. There was a thunderstorm in my only stop in Houston so everyone got rerouted to San Antonio and we sat for hours. Then after that there was a ton of confusion with which gate my next plane that's taking me to Cleveland would be at. First it's gate B85 then it's B94. And delayed a total of 3 hours.
It's that kind of bs that goes on in airport terminals that would completely stress me out especially if I would have to deal with it frequently. In the winter time you'll have flights cancelled all the time because of weather conditions and sometimes you'll have to sit for a while. That's why I don't like that set up. It's already a jungle out there on the road.

Daniel; a question about your difficulty leaving home and family. You stated you were sitting at the airport when leaving. Do you work out of an operation center that you need to fly to after home time? The reason I ask is that I have been offered an OTR job where the company flys me to one of their operation centers and I work out of there for a minimum of 3 weeks and then home for a week. Do you or anyone on the forum have any knowledge or experience with this arrangement? My thought was that maybe you are working with a similar situation. Any comments would be appreciated.
