Instances can happen. But they do not go out of their way to do something like that. He is getting pre hires , which means he is most likely going to a private school, not a company sponsored school. If you are going to Prime, Swift, etc, you don't need to worry about pre hires from another company.

I can't answer because i didn't go through the process yet but i would think it is as concrete as getting those pre approved credit of $5000 shopping magazines in the mail.

If you go the company school route, most if the hiring process happens before you're accepted at school. So, if you are accepted for training, go in planning to do your best, keep your nose clean and your ducks in the row, pass the tests, and you'll have a job.

so I'm looking into several companies. I have one pre-hire , and expect I'll get more. I've seen plenty of threads where people get pre hires , go through the training with the company, pass everything and get called into the office to be told "sorry, no job, but you owe us for the training". that, coupled with the faCT that I'm leaving a pretty stable job makes me want to make sure a pre-hire is worth the paper it's written on (or emailed on, lol)
It depends on just how bad you want it. Not trying to be smug or rude, but regardless of where you go to school and what carrier you train with, they provide you with instuction and the tools necessary to learn how to drive a truck and enter the field. It's up to you to apply yourself and approach it with persistence and laser focus. To be successful, the same persistence and focus must continue throughout your trucking career.
Frankly it's 30 percent "them" and 70 percent "you". Once you make your decision, throw yourself into it completely with the only intention of succeeding!
