What are you looking to run? Dry van , reefer , flat bed, no preference?
No particular preference on the trailer type although my teachers have been telling me it's best to start as dry van because reefer you have stricter time commitments (most of that stuff is perishable so if you're late they'll refuse it and then you're in trouble), flat bed interested me but teachers have said that's really difficult at first and when you're new to the business you really want to keep it simple till you have the experience.
I do NOT want to run tankers though...
Honestly I'll take whatever I can get and I'm perfectly happy with OTR with home time being spread out... doesn't bother me since I'm giving up my apartment and living out of truck. If I get tired of sleeping in the truck I'll use my savings of not paying for an apartment and stay in a hotel for a couple of nights but honestly I have delt with worse than a truck sleeper. I have camped on the ground, air matress, cot, in a tent out of a tent, hotels, motels, couches, shared living space with up to 12 other guys... I can handle a lot so I don't think the sleeper with bother me much. As long as I have my laptop and a cell phone signal, food and a way to keep warm or cool.
Phox I sent you a private message. Hope you get it. Seems usually when I send them the person doesn't get them but I'll keep trying
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
A refrigerated trailer.
I have no idea how you get private messages here... I know how you send them but no way to view one sent to ya...
Maybe someone else knows and can tell us...

Private messages show up in the email you registered with. You may want to check your spam folder.
At least, I have sent a message to errol, and one other person, and their responses came to my email, so I assume that a new one will do the same.
Daniel is correct. Private messages will go to the email you used to register on this site.
I checked inbox and spam folder.... nothing... well except lots of spam that I empty multiple times a day (If I don't I'll have over 100 in half a day)
Try re sending it and I'll check again

I got it and replied saying so... no idea why I didn't get the other one. This one was in my inbox too, not spam... weird. Would be nicer if we just had a simple message system on the site though.

It must be me as I used to have this same problem messaging 6 string.
No need for me to try again as I seen in a post my question was answered. Was going to chat with you about a place but it is no pets and I see that is a no go for you.
So this morning I got a call from my trucking school, they have scheduled me for my first 4 hour drive for this Thursday 10am - 2 pm. The trainer I will be with (which by the way during the drives it's 1 trainer 1 student) I have not met so I'm hopping he's good and has the patience for me to learn the whole shifting thing.

I second that!!!
my top choices are flatbed, or refrigerated, then dry van. I like the idea of the extra work that will get me out of the cab more with flatbed. From what I have researched, refrigerated will usually be longer runs. Tight delivery windows happen in every category, but I have also heard that refrigerated tends to have tighter windows, which I am fin with, because it will help me learn to manage my hours faster. Dry van , really, just never appealed to me, as much as flatbed or refrigerated.
I think that I might like automatics, better, too. But I also like the idea of being able to drive a manual very efficiently, before I get in an auto shift truck.
Stay safe
Dry Van:
A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.
