Hi everyone,

Probably a stupid question but Ill ask anyways. Here we go, what does it mean that Swift Transportation asks for one of the following documents to bring: if your unemployed for more than 30 days you must have a notarized letter stating when and why?

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated

They required that with me as well back in 2012 but t never asked. It's just so they know what you have been doing for that time off.

Does proof of un employment pay work?

I had to do it to for my unemployment year back in 2011... Just call unemployment office and tell them what you need and give them a fax number... Shouldn't be a problem...

Maybe this isn't what you're asking, but, I think they want you to write a letter to them (or "to whom it may concern", or whatever), stating the periods you were unemployed and why (like, "I was looking for work but couldn't find any"), then don't sign it, but find a notary public and take it there. They will ask for ID then watch you sign it, then put their stamp on it.

Pretty much it..

To Whom It May Concern,

Between this DATE and this DATE i was unemployed, but looking for look. I had no luck so turned my attention to your academy to gain my CDL.

Signed,

Your name here Signature ( sign at notary public..)

Most notary's cost like 5-10ish i think.. mine was 8.. never needed the paper though.. good to have though.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Now that I think about it more, I wonder why they'd want a letter from you to be notarized. Maybe what they want is a letter from someone else who knows why you were unemployed? Then it would make sense because they'd want to know that you didn't just fake a signature.

Most banks have a notary that is free to use if you have an account there. Most of us probably have a bank account so go to your bank and ask if they have a notary and if it's free for you since you have an account.
