Someone recently advocated for an app called Wolfram Alpha. I can't even tell you ... it's so neat ... I'm gladly paying $2.99/month for the foreseeable future. Look it up to find out why.
Okay, I'll spoil it a little.
"Remember the Star Trek computer? It's finally happening--with Wolfram|Alpha. Building on 25 years of development led by Stephen Wolfram, Wolfram|Alpha has rapidly become the world's definitive source for instant expert knowledge and computation.
Across thousands of domains--with more continually added--Wolfram|Alpha uses its vast collection of algorithms and data to compute answers and generate reports for you.
Parts of Wolfram|Alpha are used in the Apple Siri Assistant; this app gives you access to the full power of the Wolfram|Alpha computational knowledge engine. Domains covered by Wolfram|Alpha include:

That was me who was talking about wolfram alpha. has quite a few uses and I find myself using it at least 3-4x days every week. Even if just for fun... type your birth date or "today" or any other date and you'll get a lot of interesting info about said date. The topic in which I mentioned it was about timezones and when you need info about the time in a location it can be quite useful. most time zone converters only have major cities, that only helps if you know what time zone the small city you are going to is in or if it's nearby one of those large cities. with wolfram you can type in any location in the world and get info about it or do that and add the word timezone to the end and get just time info about it.

I use the Waze app especially around cities. It's great for seeing what's up ahead. I use it only as a reference though and never do the interactive stuff on it. Let the 4-wheelers handle that part.
