Did you put "GPS" in the search box above? We have a discussion about GPS machines about every other month.

Generally the top two are Rand McNally (they make the map BOOK, too.) And Garmin dēzl.

I use the GPS in the Qualcomm , but some here don't trust it.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

My company primarily moves very specific raw materials, from a rather limited amount of very large customers. It's one of the reasons it seems like we tarp everything. It's not that we tarp all freight, it's just that we only move tarped materials. At any rate, because we have so few customers it's easy for our information to be specifically catered to each shipper or consignee when it comes to the local details. This makes the qualcomms navigo very reliable for us, more so than rand mcnally's which use generic information. I could definitely understand that people not in that situation wouldn't like the navigo information though. When it comes to having to generate routes that aren't normal i've seen it do all kinds of weird junk, including asking me to teleport onto an overpass that has no ramps from underneath it.

Consignee:

The customer the freight is being delivered to. Also referred to as "the receiver". The shipper is the customer that is shipping the goods, the consignee is the customer receiving the goods.

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

I'm still with my trainer and I use a Rand McNally TND 80 tablet gps. My trainer likes mine so much he stopped using his own rand mcnally(older one) and just uses mine. He's gonna be mad when I'm done cause that tablet gps is coming with me when I'm done!lol
