Not to be the nerd here, but what was the toughest thing for you during this first year?
The fact that everything was new all at the same time, it's a big learning curve!
Trip planning got me really frazzled - like when I would get two preplans and my DM asked "when do you think you'll get to that second delivery." Initially, I felt that I had to GO! immediately, but I've learned it's always best to take the time to write everything down, look it all up on google maps, earth, check the weather, double check the route, & see where the rest stops are first. And not knowing where to stop at night was tough (and sometimes scary) now after a year, I at least have a few favorite spots, and am getting better at finding something in a pinch.
Dm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
