Obviously, the day started with me being nervous, and wanting to achieve perfection right away. Which duh....I should know better. Then suddenly it's like Pandora's box opened up and it all went uphill from there. I did very well today. I did the whole pre test around very nicely, and I even practiced airbrakes. I shifted gears smoothly using the clutch on my FIRST try. My partner said he watched me handle that shift stick like....umm. I'll skip that part. Haha you can't scream sexual harassment when you're around a bunch of truckers, you gotta have fun and relax. Which is what I'm all about. The guys are all super nice and respectful, everyone smiles and is enjoying themselves. I'm sure it's in big part because of our instructors who make the whole thing so awesome. I am so glad I went with United Tractor Trailer school. I didn't want the day to end, I was rilled up for more. I CAN'T WAIT for the next weekend!!!

Went to Cabela's last night to get myself a heated vest for the upcoming weekends at school. Looking forward learning more, while staying warm and cozy. :)

I was giving a massage to a client yesterday and was thinking pre trip inspections the whole time! lollll

Glad to hear things are going well. I did mean to ask, the trucks you're doing pre trip on and practicing in, will that be the vehicle you test in as well? The reason I bring it up is mainly in regards to the pre trip. Make sure as you're learning the parts, you learn to recognize the parts and not specifically the location. I've seen a few people make that mistake before where they memorized the location of the part but when looking at a different truck with a different engine, things like the compressor, alternator and even power steering pump can be in a different location.

For example. A Volvo D13 engine has the compressor on the driver side but at the back of the motor, against the firewall and the alternator sits at the front of the motor on the drivers side.

On certain Caterpillar engines, the compressor is on the driver side but at the front of the motor and the alternator is on the passenger side at the front.

I'm not trying to confuse or scare you lol. I just want to make sure that you're recognizing the part and not specifically the location because they will vary.

Yes, I found that out pretty quickly! I definitely more practice to recognize the parts, but I'm getting there at a good pace.

Are you a massage therapist? My daughter is one. Is school only on weekends?

I am. Trucking school on weekends. Although I didn't really put anything into it since my divorce, my motivation went down and I didn't feel like giving my energy to others, when I needed it for myself. Even as of lately...it's just been rough and my heart is in pain. So I take the occasional old client, a friend in need of a massage, but not advertising my services.
