Attending CDL School In May At 45 Yrs Old

I am looking at getting my CDL at one of the companies that offers the training and then in return you work for them. I am doing my research and at 45 yrs old and single with no attatchments. i'm very excited about this new chapter in my life. This forum is a huge help in finding info. I love reading the stories of the guys and gals that are in the programs and how it's been working for them. good luck to all of you

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Hi Bob, 45 is young. I'm 60. I drove for about 5 years before getting involved in another trade for 20+ years. Now I'm looking to get back to it. This will be the year! Good luck to you!

Hey, Bob, I'm 52 and plan on going to Prime this spring. Single, all kids raised, retired, and looking to open that new chapter in my life, too. Scary and exciting at this age, but we have maturity on our side.

Congrads Im looking into either going to private trucking school or company sponsored cdl training im wondering which company sponsored cdl training is good? Reason im asking this is that private school which I really want to go they want money up front which I dont have at present time. I cant wait until I get started with this training. Ive been studying trucking truths cdl high road training program which is very helpful thank you very much for this program.

I'm 52 year's old myself,and plan on going with swift or knight the 1st part of febuary.I'll be leaving my place of employment for the last 14 year's ,and in the process of selling my home,I'm looking foreward to the adventure and lifestyle it will bring.
