Hey Larry first great job! second do you need your permit and endorsements prior to school at prime? what do you need to complete prior to arrival? thanks man I'm thinking about starting June/July
Justin, You do not need the permit before you go but from what I understand it will make life easier when you get there. It is just one burden removed from the first week which will allow you to focus on backing and driving.
From my understanding prime only gives you like 405 days to get your permit, if you don't get it you go home. You have to study and get your permit at the same time as everything else going on in that first week which makes it difficult. if you just get it before hand you won't need to worry.
"Larry", I replied to your email a while ago. Just for your info, in case you'd think I ignored you...lol
Thanks RV, I did recieve it. Hope everything is going well
I'm from Illinois, and my Prime recruiter told me NOT to get my permit in IL and wait and test for it in Missouri. He said IL permit will not transfer over to MO. So I plan to study the High Road program all the way up until I ship out.
Thanks everyone, and yes Adam I was thinking something similar but not sure
Just my opinion but the high road training program is awesome. I took all my tests and passed with flying colors. Even though I passed tankers and hazmat I cant get those on my permit until I show that I passed my skills tests. I got fingerprinted for hazmat and applied for twic card today. I am going to prime feb 1, hope I am not forgetting anything. It would have been much more difficult if I hadn't found this site and all the information I have got off here. Thanks
I agree 100%!!!! I completed my classes and graduated in July this year. I was worried I had forgotten everything since I haven't been driving/working, so I took a bunch of the tests to see how bad the situation was and much to my joy passed everything I took!
I don't know if the testing questions are standardized throughout all the states, but regardless it can only help you! I went to a private school 160 hrs.... I think I actually got 200 of which 100 hrs was spent on backing!!! It was brutal, I almost caused my instructor to close up shop and take up knitting!! Took me two tries to pass my backing skills test, but nailed it with a perfect score second go around.. Zero errors zero pull ups!!! Good luck to all who are headed to school, if I did it I KNOW anyone can who has the determination and desire!!

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
