I drove an '06 Freightliner in school and did fine, however now I'm on a '15 Pete 579 and I am having issues. In the double shifting process I keep feeling a small jerk when I let my foot off the clutch when I go into gear. What am I doing wrong? Going too deep on the clutch? Giving too much/not enough fuel? The timing of when I come off the clutch/when I give it fuel? Any input would be extremely helpful.
The clutch is adjusted differently and most likely the difference is wear; new trucks vs. one 9 years old. I think you are going too deep into the clutch, just pop it quickly. You will get used to it, every truck is different and your situation is perhaps a greater extreme due to the age of your previous ride.
G town is right about the age of equipment, something I have seen a lot of students do it there used to driving a Manuel car is to step on the accelerator before they let the clutch all the way out and then can cause the jerk. You will get it with time all trucks are different, you just have to figer your out.
Kind of off topic, but I noticed your user name "aperture". Are you into astronomy?
