Some great advise here. Always spend money on top notch stuff, it is well worth it. Of course, many of us in school have limited funds so buy what you can afford. As earlier mentioned, make sure your feet, ears, and hands stay warm.
Word of advise on boots: if you are going to wear thick or multiple socks buy boots at least a half to full size larger than you would normally wear. You need room for air to circulate around your feet. I have spent 25 years in Construction working outside in some of the most unforgiving weather.
Definitely! No tight boots (or gloves, even!) because you'll be sorry! Allow room for your toes to move even when wearing thick socks, and your fingers not to be compressed by the fabric in gloves that are too tight.

You are very quick witted. Well played. No worries, the mind is the first thing to go.
Now don't you have something to study? Pre-trip things and such?

Sorry, couldn't help myself. My mind is also always the first thing to go......in the gutter. ;)
Studying? Oh, look! A bird just flew above my head!
Once I get there, I put on a battery powered heated vest and I keep it at 25% so the battery last all day and keeps me warm.
RV- Can you post a brand or link for the battery powered vest? Never heard of that. I have heard of battery powered socks.
Battery powered vest I've heard of, but socks? Do you kinda....charge your socks along with your phone? As a student this all sounds out of my price range anyway.
Jetguy.....Google "heated jacket" or "heated vest"......Amazon sells many.
Dewalt's, Milwaukee and Gerbing makes them. There are some other brands as well. I bought mine at Cabela's outdoor store on sale at 40% off two weeks ago. I think I'll return it, don't line the color. It's light gray and I'm afraid might get dirty. I want a black one.

Sure- charge away. I wore them once- didn't like them.
