Good evening y'all. Just thought I'd give some updates on my progress with Averitt so far. I have two more days left of orientation and so far they have been awesome people to work with. I checked in early Sunday afternoon to get settled in my room and get some rest for the upcoming week. The hotel is really nice for me not having to pay anything. Being an ole country boy like me, this is luxurious. Lol. My roommate is a little weird. But that's a different story lol. Monday was long and super boring with the computer training, paperwork, getting uniforms, physical and drug test. We started the day at about 6am and didn't get back to the hotel until around 7pm. But the food was good I must admit. Today we had to show up at 8am for company orientation. It was definitely a fun day. Started with a nice hot breakfast, followed by a lecture about the company and why it is why it is. The CEO came in and introduced himself to us and he is a good, humble guy. Then we went over our benefits package which was kinda boring, but we made it fun lol. Lastly we got to meet our recruiters which was nice. It's been a long week so far, but I have to say, this company has already shown why so many people want to work for them. I'm eager to get out on the road and learn all I can and work for one of the best companies on the road. Stay safe everybody!! And cheers!!

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Thanks Sonnydogg! And CT they have actually gotten more lenient with there facial hair policy. You can have a full beard and moustache as long as its neat and clean and no longer then like a quarter of an inch. I had a duck dynasty beard going before I started, and my woman hated when I told her I had to trim it short, but she got over it lol. But there's a couple foreign guys here that won't cut there's because of there religion. Just tell them your religion forbids you too cut your facial hair!!! Lol! But the reason they're starting to gain more business and accounts is because of how high they set the bar for there employees. They aren't really too awfully strict, they just want you looking professional and presenting yourself with dignity and respect. Good luck!!

Ok thanks. Also, hate to pry, but what kind of pay do their regional drivers get?

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Well I'm fresh out of school, They start fresh out of school students at. 37 cpm for regional truckload. They've also got a crap ton of dedicated accounts which you can get as a new driver. For regional truckload they require you too get your hazmat and tanker endorsement within I think 90 days. If you apply within 30 days of your initial hire date they reimburse you in full. When you go look on there website, everything they say on there, and what the recruiters tell you is 100% true. Don't listen to the bonehead slack offs that talk crap about them lol. Communication is key with this place.

HAZMAT:

Hazardous Materials

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.
