^ awesome, Rainy D. I love to hear about people who enjoy this job because I'm frightened and distressed to be leaving a job & a company that I adore.
I also have left a great paying job for a lesser paying job because it had less potential for Pure Human Misery. I can only develop so many food sensitivities from stress (milk & gluten that I know of), and can only work so many however-well-paid mandatory overtime hours for compassionless 'masters' before my health and sanity tank. 5 years, one nervous breakdown and a gall bladder were my limit, haha.
Prime seems to have a relatively high satisfaction rate among drivers here and a thorough training program, which are priority for us. The estimated $35k gross first-year pay is still 1.5x what I earn now, and 2x what my extremely hard-working partner earns where benefits aren't offered.
It doesn't matter to me if the math with this job works out as fully profitable as a young cardiologist's. To us it matters that experienced drivers with well cared-for families have found it fulfilling and more-than livable for decades. So thanks Rainy and all you old-timers for sharing, from a newbie who is paying attention.
