Call and ask to speak to the supervisor in safety
There is no federal regulation requiring a sleep study. The DOT Dr. must have seen something else to only issue a 6 month card. You can always go have a second opinion physical. I would say the company more than likely has it setup at 6 months that way if you leave after you get you CDL that you will not have a valid medical card. But as stated above I would be trying to get a hold of the safety department at the company. Best of luck
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

At prime the doctor issued 2 months dot cards. We the. Took the sleep s5udy after we tested out and go the CDL.. then new physical to get the 2 year card. I was on the road right away though... both with the permit and after the sleep study and s3co d physical

I decided on company based training. Have a company they sent me to dot physical. Dr. said she'll give me a 6 month fed med card cause your company will want a sleep study done. Got my CLP ready to go to school but now the safety department has questions but haven't contacted me and I feel like I'm getting the run around. Quit my job cause I was to start on the 28th of December. Here I sit with a fed med card & CLP. How long do I wait? I call this company every day & don't here anything. Help please.

CLP:
Commercial Learner's Permit
Before getting their CDL, commercial drivers will receive their commercial learner's permit (CLP) upon passing the written portion of the CDL exam. They will not have to retake the written exam to get their CDL.
