If you're an android user you can root your phone and then you'll never have to worry about data. I have the ability to use my phone as a WiFi for an additional $20 a month but with unlimited data, don't have to worry about it. I think the available WiFi hot spots that you're talking about still have data restrictions though?
I have an iPhone I'm not sure if it works like that or not. I came across one device called Karma, its a wifi hotspot that works off of sprints 4g/lte service. $50 a month for unlimited usage. That still seems a little expensive for me.
Just out of curiosity, what do you want to do that uses that much data, watch videos? I'm not saying you shouldn't use t bat much - I really don't know.
I pretty much just use it for Netflix and streaming. I'm on a family plan so Data gets used pretty quickly lol.
I was thinking about getting myself a T-Mobile Hotspot for the road. The device itself cost like $100 & the data plans go from 2gb ($20 monthly) to 18gb ($80 monthly) but the good thing about it is They offer something on their plans called Binge on which lets you stream video services like Netflix, Hulu, HBO etc WITHOUT using your data! They also have something called Music Freedom which lets you listen to Internet radio (pandora, jango, etc) WITHOUT using up your data. So I figured this would be perfect for me! Only thing I would be using my actual data on would be browsing web pages or watching YouTube videos. If anyone knows of anything better let me know! But if not then this is what I plan on going with
Nice, thanks Theron i haven't seen that one. I'll be looking into it.
I have an iPhone 6 with AT&T......anyone have recommendations? I know I can use my phone hot spot to connect my iPad on wifi through my phone data plan, but I don't have an unlimited data plan. Don't know how much it would cost for unlimited, or if there's another option.
Last year I bought one of these for a camper: Long Range WIFI Antenna It works really well... Very popular with RV people. The only drawback is that it is USB only. And, you cant plug it into a repeating device to bounce the signal to your phone or tablet. It only feeds what it is plugged into. If you park close enough to a place with free WIFI, you're set. I think I got 3/4 mile out of it.

50 bones a month for unlimited data ain't bad at all. Assuming Sprint has pretty good coverage in the US, so you would have WiFi almost anywhere. And since the data is unlimited, there is no reason you can't share your password for a few dollars with other drivers. Heck, you might be able to break even that way (sorry, my inner capitalist is getting the better of me)

I'm trying to avoid burning up all my data while I'm out. Does anyone here use a wifi hotspot? Really I'm looking for any good recommendations to not spend a ton of money on cellphone data for Internet.
