Glad to know I'm not alone. When I try to take off in 3rd, I either stall or its just a rough take off. What can I do to smoothly get rolling?

Its rough cuz your letting the clutch out to slow..(its called shakey foot syndrome) you can tell cuz the truck is jumping...

Remember the finger snaps in the Adams Family theme? Bum ba da dum, snap snap. The timing is perfect in regards to shifting and working the clutch. Try it out and see if you like it.

That's how I was taught to time my shifts when I went to school for my CDL , and that was almost 25 years ago. Worked well for me.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
