I'd die.
You'll get to it - the docking, that is. Like most new drivers I just hated that alley dock. Barely passed the one for my school eval.
I still don't like them, especially in truck stops where you'll have some O-O's Pete on one side, and a long nose KW on the other.
Kudos!!! Errol. I'm impressed. If I could only get that good with experience everyday. Knowing fully that there are both good and bad days backing for all experience levels of drivers.

Kudos indeed!!! I've found people 9n truck stops are wiling to guide you for fear of you hitting them lol...on the test I did the alley perfectly. In the yard without reference points forget it lol I suck. One of the things I'm working on

Bravo my good sir, bravo!
And you got it right there: with red cones/ref points in the school yard, it's one thing. When the ref points are gone....then what?? Argh!

For good or bad, the only reference point I had was the wall! I posted this not to show off, but to show there really is life after truck school. A year ago this week I was just starting with my road trip and my mentor. Yes, it took me a while, I still don't like to do it, but alley dock can be done!
This just looks ridiculous. But congratulations on making it! I actually don't have to do the alley dock for the CDL test. The two testing centers that have DOT test officials don't have an alley dock area set up. So it's just straight backing, offset backing, and parallel parking. Thank goodness. But I know I'll have to learn sometime....
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
You are a truck driver. Love those kind of puzzles.

Here's the tight alley dock I had to do today. It's s lot like the "horror story" an instructor told us about.
The black area is a warehouse. My truck comes from the left, along the side (bottom edge) of the warehouse. I'm supposed to back into the spot where the left blue trailer is, next to the blue dot.
The only extra space I have is the small square of asphalt the other side of the alley road, good for pulling up. I'm backing right next to a wall, so there's no grace on the right side.
Yes, after a bit I get it in.
There's even instructions on how to get out. (You can't simply turn right, there's a warehouse there!)
